The Most Random Musings

As I'm weeding through recent pictures, I realize that I have a bunch of random pictures from multiple events that don't really go together with anything in particular. So, here's my randoms for the month.

Shelby, Kinzie, and Karalee

A family brunch before Scott and Natalie's wedding...

Amanda surprised me. She. SURPRISED. Me. Big time. I seriously had absolutely NO idea. But it was a pleasant surprise, so I went along.

The next-to-be-married couple...

Amanda and Macy

Little Lee. I just can't get enough of him. Right now he has little rabbit teeth.

Oh man. He's so handsome.

And this is little Josephine. She's absolutely darling, big eyes, and worried eyebrows...

Aubrey and Eric's engagement party...

Lunch with Jean and Laura before Amanda had to leave...

Visiting a friend of mine - Angie is on the left, she is the nurse who's place I took at the clinic when she had to retire due to health reasons. She taught me a lot and she is one of the sweetest, kindest, most caring people that I know. Vhi is on the right - she is our office manager and keeps the clinic hopping with entertainment. There is never a dull moment when Vhi is there. She switches between English and Tagalog when she gets upset and it's acutally quite humorous because no one has any idea what she's saying.

Those are my randoms.

Happenings - April 2012

Took the train to Dallas with some friends to go to the Art Museum...

Reunion Tower...

Dinner at Whitney's with some friends...

Wedding dress shopping for Laura. I could barely contain my excitement.

Vegetarian-themed dinner at Johnn and Lois's...

The Spread - Lentil soup, pasta salad, fruit salad, tofu and vegetable tacos with pineapple salsa and guacamole, sweet potato couscous, spinach and artichoke lasagna...
The pineapple salsa was INCREDIBLE. Am I the only one that has been deprived of it all my life? I could drink that stuff...

A few of the kids - Ethan, Marley, Bella, Grayson

And this little toot - Josephine.

Grandaddy's 90th

Last Saturday, most of the family gathered to celebrate Grandaddy's 90th birthday. I spent a lot of time looking through old pictures a few days before the party and was amazed at how many I had never seen before, some are quite humorous. I have seen maybe a total of 5 pictures of my grandmother and it was very interesting looking at more, since she passed away before I was born and I never got to meet her. Here's some pictures from the evening.

Check out Dad's rockin' spectacles.

This was Aunt Jo's wedding (obviously), she looks like a kid. She WAS a kid.

This picture scares me a little, Aunt Jo looks positively evil.

Grandaddy in his element - a table full of chocolate.

The grandchildren.

The greatgrandchildren.

And the children with their spouses.

His grandchildren were requested to write down a memory of Grandaddy from younger years... so I shared about the only time I remember getting a spanking from Grandaddy...
I was about seven years old. Dad and Mom were out of town so Grandaddy and Mimi were babysitting us kids. Well, on my way home from school that day, I heard a kid on the bus use the word 'gay' for the first time and as we were walking up the driveway, I asked Roger what it meant. He wouldn't tell me, but he told me that it would be really funny if I called JoLynn gay. So, we all sit down to dinner and I promptly said in a singsong voice, "JoLynn is gay!". Grandaddy asked me what I had just said, so I repeated it for him and he gently took my hand, led me to Dad and Mom's room, spanked me soundly, and told me not to use words that I didn't know the meaning of.
Anyways, I do have many GOOD memories of Grandaddy as well, such as him blowing giant bubbles with Laura and I in their driveway, sneaking us candy right before dinner, taking us on walks... He is a big fan of walking, I never will forget him taking me to the mall to walk, me trying not to look like a nerd, and him trying to look the otherway, keeping me engrossed in conversation, and acting like we weren't passing a Victoria's Secret.

Introducing Percy

This is Percy the Goldfish...

He was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday. He's pretty chill when it comes to waiting. A friend...

... knew that I wanted a fish. So she brought him over to surprise me.

That's his surprised face. In fact, that's his face for every emotion.

Happenings

Hello, all. Here's some of the latest and greatest happenings. I debated for five whole minutes on whether 'happenings' was spelled happenings or happennings. I will not let google win. I'm sticking with happenings.

Cozy evenings by the fireside...

Bowling with friends. The sad thing about this picture - that is not even my score. I got there so late that my friends went ahead and bowled for me. And I am glad because I don't think I have ever even gotten that score, even when I try. I'm quite a pathetic bowler.

Babysitting some of my favorite little people, Leighton and Harper...

... and making silly faces with Carter...

...and being with one of my favorite big people, photo credits to Carter, an aspiring photographer as you can tell...

Wandering around the Stock Show, I met THESE cowboys...

... and another favorite big people...

I seriously think the calf scramble is my favorite part. All these poor teenagers with dreams of tying up a calf and getting a scholarship, who stop running after twenty seconds because they are out of breath. Ten points to the calves for outsmarting them. Bye-bye scholarship.
